Some wounds are visible. Others are heard in the silence left behind.
In Damascus, Syria, Fares Issa was seriously injured when a missile struck near him, resulting in the amputation of his left leg and a severe injury to his right leg. He also lost hearing in one ear.
Through the Medical Support Project, in partnership with JIGSAW, donor support reached Fares. His existing hearing aid was repaired, a new hearing aid was provided for his other ear, and essential medical supplies were secured to support his care for more than three months.
After receiving both hearing aids, Fares began adjusting to using them together. Sounds became more balanced, and communication became easier.
A hearing aid may seem small compared with everything Fares has lost. But for him, it is a way to reconnect with the world.

بعض الجراح تُرى… وأخرى تُسمع في الصمت الذي يتركه فقدان جزءٍ من الحياة.
في دمشق، سوريا، تعرض العم فارس عيسى لإصابة بالغة نتيجة سقوط صاروخ بالقرب منه، أدت إلى بتر ساقه اليسرى وإصابة شديدة في ساقه اليمنى، كما فقد السمع بإحدى أذنيه.
ضمن مشروع الدعم الطبي، وبالشراكة مع منظمة JIGSAW، وصل دعم المتبرعين إلى فارس؛ فتم إصلاح سماعته، وتأمين سماعة جديدة للأذن الثانية، إلى جانب توفير المستلزمات الطبية اللازمة لمتابعة رعايته لأكثر من ثلاثة أشهر.
وبعد تركيب السماعتين، بدأ فارس بالتأقلم معهما، وأصبح الصوت أكثر توازنًا، والتواصل أسهل.
قد تبدو السماعة صغيرة أمام كل ما فقده فارس… لكنها بالنسبة إليه وسيلة للعودة إلى العالم من حوله.
