Zakat Policy for Rahma Worldwide

We are committed to upholding the principles of Zakat as a vital component of Islamic philanthropy and community support. Below, we outline our Zakat policy to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective utilization of funds in accordance with Islamic guidelines.

Purpose

Zakat is a mandatory charitable obligation for eligible Muslims, aimed at purifying wealth and aiding those in need. We are honored to facilitate the collection and distribution of Zakat funds to provide humanitarian relief and development assistance to the most vulnerable populations worldwide.

Zakat Allocation

All Zakat contributions received by Rahma Worldwide are strictly distributed in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the Quran and Sunnah. The following categories of beneficiaries are prioritized:

1- The Poor (Al-Fuqara): Individuals with minimal or no income.
2- The Needy (Al-Masakin): Those who struggle to meet their basic needs.
3- Those in Debt (Al-Gharimin): People burdened by overwhelming debts for lawful reasons.
4- Stranded Travelers (Ibn Al-Sabil): Individuals stranded away from their homes without resources.
5- To Free Captives (Ar-Riqab): Support for efforts to liberate individuals from bondage or modern equivalents.
6- For the Cause of Allah (Fi Sabilillah): Initiatives that advance humanitarian and spiritual causes, including community development and relief.
7- Zakat Administrators: A portion of Zakat may cover reasonable administrative costs directly related to its collection and distribution.

Utilization of Funds

Zakat funds are used exclusively for programs aligned with the above categories. These include, but are not limited to:
- Providing food, shelter, and medical aid to displaced and impoverished families
- Supporting orphans, widows, and elderly individuals
- Delivering emergency relief during crises and disasters
- Supporting essential humanitarian interventions that meet Zakat eligibility criteria

Accountability and Transparency

Rahma Worldwide operates with the highest level of integrity in handling Zakat contributions. To ensure transparency and proper stewardship:

Segregated Accounting: Zakat funds are tracked and managed separately within our accounting system (QuickBooks) using dedicated classifications to ensure they are used strictly for Zakat-eligible purposes
Restricted Fund Management: All Zakat collections and related expenditures are clearly recorded, monitored, and auditable
Regular Reporting: Donors receive updates on the impact of their contributions through reports, newsletters, and our website
Audited Financials: Our financial statements are audited annually by independent auditors to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and organizational accountability

How to Contribute Zakat

Donors can contribute their Zakat through the following methods:

Online donations via our secure portal.
Bank transfers to our designated Zakat account.
In-person contributions at our office or events.

Commitment to Serving Humanity

We view Zakat as more than just financial support; it is a sacred trust. By distributing Zakat in a way that uplifts communities and restores dignity, we aim to maximize the spiritual and social impact of every contribution.
